Chambers wins 60m in personal-best

SHEFFIELD, England -- Dwain Chambers twice equaled the fastest 60-meters in the world this year, winning in a personal-best 6.51 seconds Saturday at the UK Indoor European trials.

Chambers matched that time in the semifinals. Tyrone Edgar was second in 6.64 and European under-23 champion Simeon Williamson was third.

Craig Pickering was disqualified in the semifinals because of a false start.

"I'm very pleased with my performance," Chambers said. "It's an indication of what I can do."

Chambers, who served a two-year ban for testing positive for the steroid THG in August 2003, has been invited to few races. That ostracism makes it difficult for him to find competition.

Chambers said he will prepare for the European indoor championships in March in Turin, Italy.
