French Open draw sets up semi-finals against Djokovic or Nadal for Murray

Andy Murray has been drawn in the same half of the French Open as champion Rafael Nadal and World No.1 Novak Djokovic.

Murray, seeded third, will play a qualifier in the first round at Roland Garros, but will probably have to face either Djokovic or Nadal in the semi-finals.

Djokovic and Nadal, with 22 Grand Slam titles between them, could face off as early as the last eight after they were drawn in the same quarter, while British No.2 Aljaz Bedene drew promising Austrian Dominic Thiem.

In the women's draw, British No.1 Heather Watson will face French wildcard Mathilde Johansson, before coming up against the winner of the all-American match between Sloane Stephens and Venus Williams.

Australia's Nick Kyrgios is the first seed Murray could face in round three, before potential clashes with American John Isner in the last 16 and David Ferrer in the quarter-finals.

It leaves all three British players facing an uphill battle to reach the latter stages of the tournament.

Roger Federer, the No.2 seed on the other side of the draw, could meet either Tomas Berdych or Kei Nishikori in the semi-finals.

Britain's Kyle Edmund and Johanna Konta are in the main draw having both won their final qualifying matches on Friday. Play at the second grand slam of the year begins in Paris on Sunday.
