Australian tennis player and former world No. 17 Bernard Tomic was reportedly the subject of a police match-fixing investigation from 2022.

In a report by The Age, it was revealed police began looking into Tomic after two of his matches featured "suspicious bets via online bookmakers."

The first was against Roman Safiullin during qualifying for the 2022 Australian Open. Tomic reportedly felt ill during the match and later claimed he had tested positive for COVID-19. The other match in question was in Turkey late in 2021.

The Age also report the International Tennis Integrity Agency [ITIA] looked into the matter, seizing Tomic's phone and probing him over the claims.

The investigation was dropped after police failed to find enough evidence to press charges, report The Age.

Speaking to Nine's Today, The Age journalist Nick McKenzie said the investigation is currently "dormant," meaning closed but able to be reopened if new information and details emerged.

There is no suggestion by ESPN that Tomic is guilty of any criminal conduct.
