Washington Mystics forward Elena Delle Donne will have surgery to repair a torn ligament in her left thumb and will miss at least the next two weeks, the team announced Tuesday.
Delle Donne will undergo the procedure on the ulnar collateral ligament on Wednesday. She will be re-evaluated in two weeks and is expected to return before the end of the regular season.
She also missed the WNBA All-Star Game in July because of an ankle injury.
"We have had numerous injuries this year and have gotten through them," Mystics coach Mike Thibault said. "We will do the same for the next couple of weeks and look forward to having Elena back for the playoffs."
Delle Donne is averaging 18.8 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Mystics this season.
