Sun re-sign All-Star Jonquel Jones to multiyear contract

The Connecticut Sun re-signed star Jonquel Jones to a multiyear contract on Monday.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Jones, a forward-center who was a restricted free agent, averaged 17.9 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in the Sun's run to the WNBA Finals last season.

"We are pumped to have JJ sign a multi-year contract to stay in Connecticut,'' head coach and general manager Curt Miller said in a statement. "She has proven to be one of the most dominant and versatile players in the world. She continues to be one of the elite rebounders in the game and took a huge step on the defensive side of the ball in 2019. She is just scratching the surface and we look forward to her continued growth and leadership in 2020.''

A two-time All-Star, Jones was named to the WNBA All-Defensive First Team last season after leading the WNBA in total rebounds and blocks.

She became the first player in WNBA history to record a 30-15 game in the Finals when she had 32 points and 18 rebounds in Game 2 against the Mystics.
