Thirteen additional WNBA games have been added to the broadcast schedule for ESPN networks and ABC, bringing the total to 37 for the regular season, the networks announced Monday. The additional broadcasts begin on Aug. 15 and run through Sept. 10.
The WNBA began its 24th season this past weekend with six games. The league plays at a single site in Bradenton, Florida.
All teams play 22 regular-season games, shortened from the originally scheduled 36 games due to the coronavirus pandemic. The playoffs, which also will be broadcast on the ESPN Networks and ABC, will be standard, with single-elimination games in the first and second rounds, followed by five-game series in the semifinals and finals.
Saturday's Los Angeles-Phoenix game on ABC averaged 540,000 viewers, the most-watched WNBA opener on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2 since 2012. Here is a schedule of the added broadcasts:
