Lynne Roberts hired as Utah coach

SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah has hired Lynne Roberts as the next coach of its women's basketball team.

Athletic director Chris Hill announced the move Monday afternoon.

Roberts previously coached Pacific for nine years and was named the 2014-15 West Coast Conference co-Coach of the Year after the Tigers went 21-10 and advanced to the WNIT. She was named Big West Coach of the Year following the 2012-13 season after the program posted its best record in school history with a 27-8 mark.

Roberts replaces Anthony Levrets, who was fired after the team went 9-21 last season.

Hill said in a statement, "Lynne is well respected in the profession ... for her winning track record ... recruiting skills, emphasis on student-athlete welfare and desire to actively engage the community."
