Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu cherishes 24th career triple-double

Sabrina Ionescu's 24th career triple-double held a special significance for the Oregon senior.

Ionescu -- who dedicated her season to Kobe Bryant last month -- said she'd probably have received a congratulatory text from her close friend following Friday's 85-52 home rout of No. 12 Arizona in Eugene.

Bryant and his daughter Gianna were among nine people killed in a helicopter crash last month.

"Definitely a little bit more emotional for this one," Ionescu said of having the same amount of triple-doubles as one of the jersey numbers Bryant made famous as a Laker. "... But he's sending me a text in a different way so I can hear him congratulating me and our team."

The star of the No. 3 Ducks scored 15 points to go with 11 rebounds and 10 assists for her third triple-double against Arizona alone, and her second this season.

"I don't really know what it is about them,'' Ionescu said. "I was recruited by them and every time we play them they're giving us their best shot.

"I obviously have to do the same and our team has to do the same. So we're always amped up to play them.''

Ionescu is now 8 assists and 41 rebounds away from being the first Division I player (men's or women's) to reach 2,000 points, 1,000 assists and 1,000 rebounds in a career.
