Louisville Cardinals' Nyah Green enters transfer portal

Nyah Green, a McDonald's All American who was ranked in the top 25 of the Class of 2019 by HoopGurlz, is transferring from Louisville's women's basketball team and is in the transfer portal.

Green, a 6-foot-1 guard, redshirted last season because she was concerned about not getting enough playing time. She appeared in all five of the Cardinals' games this season, but played just one minute in their most recent game, a Dec. 9 victory over Duke.

"Nyah reached out to us and felt that a move was the best thing for her," Louisville coach Jeff Walz said in a statement. "Nyah is a very talented player and an excellent student. We wish her nothing but the best moving forward."

Louisville has been on pause since Dec. 11 because of a positive COVID-19 test and accompanying contact tracing measures among individuals within the program. The Cardinals' game against Miami on Sunday has been postponed, but no decisions have been made yet on subsequent games.
