Southern Miss women's basketball coach Joye Lee-McNelis announced Saturday she has Stage 4 lung cancer.
"I have Adenocarcinoma cancer again," said Lee-McNelis, who was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017, ahead of Saturday's loss to UAB, according to the Hattiesburg American.
Lee-McNelis said she told her team during Thursday's practice.
"We were just a wreck, emotionally, and it was hard," she said.
A former player, Lee-McNelis was inducted into the school's hall of fame in 1997. She has been the coach of the Golden Eagles since 2004.
