UConn Huskies, Kentucky Wildcats have women's basketball games this week called off due to COVID-19 issues with opponents

The No. 11 UConn and No. 22 Kentucky women's basketball teams both had conference games postponed this week because of COVID-19 issues involving their opponents.

The Huskies' game against visiting Marquette, scheduled for Wednesday, was called off because of COVID issues with the Golden Eagles.

The Wildcats' game Thursday at Auburn was postponed because of COVID issues with the Tigers.

The Big East and SEC will attempt to reschedule the games in accordance with the leagues' cancellation policies. Both conferences announced amendments last week to their policies for cancellations and postponements. If a team can't play, both leagues say the game will be rescheduled or declared a no contest.

Previous procedures called for a game to be forfeited and a loss given to any team unable to play.

Also, No. 10 Baylor will now play North Texas on Wednesday after its initial opponent, Houston Baptist, had to pull out of the game because of COVID issues.
