Oregon Ducks women's basketball coach Kelly Graves addresses weekend exchange with Arizona Wildcats counterpart Adia Barnes

After his unranked Oregon women's basketball team recorded its second win in three days over a top-10 team, coach Kelly Graves called the controversy following Saturday's victory over Arizona "overblown."

The Ducks defeated No. 9 UConn 72-59 on Monday, which followed their win over then-No. 7 Arizona 68-66 in overtime two days earlier.

After that game, Arizona coach Adia Barnes was upset with the officiating, telling media that her team got "homered" in Eugene, Oregon. She later took to Twitter to apologize for making a profane gesture with her finger toward Graves.

"Tonight was a battle! It was a very emotional game! I apologize for being out of character and letting my emotions get the best of me," Barnes tweeted.

But Barnes later commented on Twitter: "Despite the disrespect and being cussed at numerous times, I should have not responded back. If you would choose to sit and get cussed at by a man that's on you and what you are willing to tolerate. But I'm not that woman!"

Barnes didn't specify what was said, but one of her players, Shaina Pellington, later tweeted that her coach was, "Cussed at ... in the most VULGAR ways the ENTIRE game by Kelly. We could hear it from the floor while PLAYING, in the most HOSTILE environment. He needs to be held accountable. Simple."

When asked about the situation after the UConn game Monday, Graves said, "I think whatever happened after the game has been blown up, to be honest with you. I don't think it was anything more on either side. That's what competitors do. We compete, and sometimes that's not always pretty. But I think it was blown out of proportion."

As of Monday night, there was no word of discipline taken by the Pac-12 toward either Graves or Barnes.

After Arizona beat UConn at the Women's Final Four in April, Barnes was seen giving the middle finger and using an expletive to celebrate the upset with her team in a huddle. She then said, "I did say a cuss word. The cuss word is basically, 'Forget everybody. ... Forget everybody if they don't believe in us, because we believe in us.'"

Arizona and Oregon play again Feb. 4 in Tucson.
