History does not include the previous incarnation of the WWE cruiserweight championship, which dated back to 1991 and debuted in WCW. That championship was discontinued in 2007.
* Because of travel restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic, an interim cruiserweight championship tournament was scheduled. El Hijo del Fantasma won the tournament final against Drake Maverick. The following week on NXT TV, El Hijo del Fantasma unmasked and renamed himself Santos Escobar. Escobar defeated Devlin in a title unification ladder match at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver in April 2021.
+ On Jan. 4, 2022, Carmelo Hayes defeated Roderick Strong to unify the NXT cruiserweight championship with the NXT North American championship.
