Dr. Jen Welter has joined the XFL to coach linebackers for Las Vegas, the league announced Tuesday after finalizing the coaching staffs for all eight teams.
Welter was the first woman to hold a coaching position in the NFL, having worked as a training camp intern for the Arizona Cardinals in 2015. She later served as a defensive specialist in 2019 for the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football (AAF).
The XFL announced a portion of its coaching staff in June and has now assigned seven to 10 assistant coaches to each team. Coaches will assist in scouting players for the XFL draft in November before turning their attention to the league's February 2023 return to the field.
The full list of assistant coaches includes a mix of veterans from the XFL's 2020 season as well as coaches who have worked or played in the AAF and the NFL.
