LONG BEACH, Calif. – Catcher/outfielder Alexander Jackson, playing for the Milwaukee Brewers at this year’s Area Code Baseball Games, showed why he’s such a highly regarded prospect even though he’s only going to be a junior this fall.

Jackson went 3-for-4 with two singles, a triple, an RBI and two runs scored in the Brewers 7-3 win over the Washington Nationals, but it was the way he hit the triple that drew oohs from the Area Code Game crowd in the last game of the day Thursday.

The ball was clocked at 107 miles off his bat—tied for the fastest of the week—and hit off the top of the 400-foot sign at the deepest part of Long Beach Blair Field before rolling back into centerfield.

It’s no surprise, then, to learn that the 6-foot-2, 215-pound catcher from Rancho Bernardo High in San Diego, Calif. was the Cal-Hi Sports 2011 State Freshman of the Year and this year’s State Sophomore of the Year as he was first in California high school baseball with 17 home runs.

Jackson also hit .400 and accounted for 36 RBI for the Broncos.
