Could the Philadelphia Phillies be open to dealing All-Star center fielder Odubel Herrera this winter?

Rumor Central

Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com raises the possibility, noting the Phillies are at least in the position to listen to offers since they are building solid outfield depth.

"(Aaron) Altherr and (Roman) Quinn are both strong defensive center fielders and the Phils have some young corner-outfield talent in the pipeline in Nick Williams, a likely September call-up, and Dylan Cozens. This could be something to watch this winter,” Salisbury writes.

Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said Tuesday that Altherr, who recently came off the disabled list, might start playing some center field in the near future.

The 24-year-old Herrera owns a .282/.362/.417 slash line but is hitting just .239 in 25 games since the All-Star break.

As Salisbury points out, the Phillies are not opposed to dealing young, controllable players for the right return, something they did last winter in trading away reliever Ken Giles to Houston.
