The Baltimore Orioles are considering a reunion with their primary long reliever from last season.

According to Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports, there is some interest in re-signing Vance Worley to a new contract after the club non-tendered him following the 2016 campaign.

The 29-year-old right-hander compiled a 3.53 ERA over 86 2/3 innings and 35 appearances. Worley began the year in the Orioles' rotation and made two April starts before being moved to the bullpen, where he posted 3.20 ERA in relief. The six-year veteran started two more games in July, but his main duty was long relief. Twenty of Worley's 31 appearances out of the bullpen lasted two innings or longer.

Earlier this offseason, the team had seemingly appeared set to move on from Worley after Baltimore executive vice president Dan Duquette told Eduardo E. Encina of the Baltimore Sun that the "O’s appreciate Vance Worley’s contributions to the 2016 club. We have some other young pitchers that have developed that can do that job for the 2017 club.”

Worley, who has also pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies, earned $2.6 million in 2016.
