Rumor Central: How will the Angels replace Tyler Skaggs?

The Los Angeles Angels absorbed another serious blow to their rotation when they learned Monday that left-hander Tyler Skaggs will be sidelined 10-12 weeks with a Grade 2 oblique strain.

The Halos already have lost right-hander Garrett Richards, who is on the 60-day disabled list with a strained right biceps.

The Angels concluded April with a respectable 14-13 record and one reason was the 25-year-old Skraggs, who allowed three runs over 19 innings in his last three outings.

Daniel Wright is expected to fill Skaggs’ place in the rotation Thursday in Seattle. The 26-year-old right-hander made one previous start this season, pitching five scoreless innings against the Blue Jays on April 23.

Beyond that, the Angels will look inside and outside the organization for pitching help, general manager Billy Eppler tells Jeffrey Fletcher of the Orange County Register.

Alex Meyer and Vicente Campos, a pair of right-handers at Triple-A Salt Lake, could also be in the mix.

ESPN’s Buster Olney wrote earlier this week that starting pitchers could be flooding the market, but it remains to be seen how high a price Eppler would pay for a replacement.
