A lot of good players, as it happens every year, won’t make the preseason list. It is in their hands to make the postseason list.

15. Bishop Sankey, RB, Washington

2012 numbers: Sankey carried 289 times -- third highest in the league -- for 1,439 yards and 16 touchdowns, averaging 110.7 yards per game. He also caught 33 balls for 249 yards.

2012 postseason ranking: Unranked.

Making the case for Sankey: After being thrust from by-committee contributor to every-down back following the injury to Jesse Callier in Week 1, Sankey emerged as one of the league’s most pleasant surprises in 2012. He hit his first 100-yard rushing game against Portland State and then followed it up with a breakout performance – 144 yards – in the upset win over Stanford. By midseason, he was averaging more than 20 carries per game and he capped it off with a huge performance (205 rushing, 74 receiving) in the loss to Boise State in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas. He scored at least one touchdown in six of his last seven games and during that same stretch he rushed for 932 yards and averaged 136 yards per game. With a healthy offensive line in front of him, expect Sankey to be in contention for multiple postseason honors.
