Report: Pike might play this week

Cincinnati quarterback Tony Pike, who was injured in Thursday's win at South Florida, might be able to play as soon as this week against Louisville, coach Brian Kelly told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Kelly had ruled Pike out this week after Thursday's game, when the senior Heisman Trophy candidate sprained his left wrist and aggravated a plate that had been inserted in his left forearm last year.

Kelly told the Enquirer that doctors will examine the plate on Monday and make a decision on whether Pike will be able to play this week. Kelly said he does not expect Pike to miss much time with the injury.

If Pike is ruled out, Kelly will choose between Zach Collaros and Chazz Anderson as the starter this week for the Bearcats (No. 5 BCS, AP). Collaros came on in relief in the South Florida game and ran for 132 yards while passing for 72.
