Taylor out for season

Wisconsin's defense will play the rest of the season without leading tackler Mike Taylor, who sustained a serious knee injury in Saturday's loss to Iowa.

Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema confirmed Tuesday that Taylor will miss the rest of the season. Taylor, a redshirt freshman outside linebacker, leads Wisconsin in tackles with 46. He went down in the second quarter against Iowa.

Standout freshman Chris Borland stepped in for Taylor on Saturday and will continue to do so when Wisconsin resumes play Oct. 31 against Purdue.

Borland has been outstanding on special teams and as a reserve linebacker, forcing two fumbles this season. Bielema said Borland can play both outside linebacker spots.
