Miami dismisses freshman WR Sam Bruce for violations of team rules

The Miami Hurricanes football team has dismissed freshman wide receiver Sam Bruce, one of its top 2016 signees, for multiple violations of team rules.

"Freshman wide receiver Sam Bruce has been dismissed from the Miami football program based on multiple violations of team rules and a failure on his part to meet the clear expectations established to be a part of the Miami football program," Miami said in a statement. "We wish Sam well with his future academic and football endeavors."

Bruce rated as the second-highest recruit in the Hurricanes' 2016 class. He was ranked No. 77 in the ESPN 300.

Bruce had yet to appear in a game for the Hurricanes after serving a three-game suspension to start the year and suffering a non-football injury to what the school described as a "lower extremity." His first suspension was for a violation of team rules.
