Maryland recruiting is on the mark

When former Texas A&M coach Mark Turgeon took over for the legendary Gary Williams at Maryland, Turgeon immediately went about constructing the program in his own image. He began the construction project from within by composing his staff.

Dalonte Hill -- who has deep ties to the powerful local AAU program -- was recruited away from Kansas State
to join the Terps and his appearance on the staff was a clear signal that Turgeon had a plan to focus locally (something the old regime under Williams didn't do) and was prepared to execute it.

Joining Hill to form a formidable force with the hometown kids is Orlando "Bino" Ranson. Like Hill, Ranson has cultivated deep ties to the area, especially Baltimore. Tying the staff together is Massachusetts native Scott Spinelli, Turgeon's long-time, trusted assistant and former Texas A&M associate head coach.
