Danny Shelton lifts up Roger Goodell

The NFL draft is an emotional time for all parties involved.

Danny Shelton, from the University of Washington, was drafted 12th overall by the Cleveland Browns. Clad in a traditional Polynesian lava-lava sarong and ulafala necklace, Shelton was pretty excited as he walked across the stage to shake Roger Goodell's hand, as anyone would be.

It started off fairly innocent:

Then this happened. ...

The defensive tackle that did 34 reps at the NFL combine, did one rep of the NFL commissioner:

"It was just an exciting time so I had to do it," Shelton said afterward.

"I haven't seen that before," Browns coach Mike Pettine said. "The look of panic on Roger's face was interesting."

Shelton's clothing was to honor his heritage. He was born and spent his early years in Samoa before moving to Washington state.

"Polynesian culture, we're a humble people," Shelton said, adding: "I just wanted to make sure that I was representing my family, my culture and my university the right way. I'm representing my culture here with this wardrobe."
