Fantasy football: Add rising Redskins TE Jordan Reed

Tim Heitman/USA TODAY Sports

Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed has legitimate talent as a route runner, and he can create favorable matchups with his 6-foot-2, 237-pound frame due to his change-of-direction ability at the line of scrimmage or at the break point. But due to his inconsistent play and injuries, Reed was started in only 15.3 percent of ESPN leagues heading into his big Week 7 performance versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Reed, who saw plenty of one-on-one matchups and open-zone windows versus Lovie Smith's defense, responded with 11 receptions (on 13 targets) for 83 yards and two touchdowns. That allowed Reed to post 19 fantasy points in standard scoring leagues.

What can we expect from the Washington tight end moving forward? Here's a breakdown of how the tight end can continue to produce numbers on high-percentage throws and isolation matchups inside of the red zone, and why fantasy owners in need of tight end production should pick up or acquire Reed if he's available.
