African champions Mamelodi Sundowns will fight to retain their CAF Champions League title following the group stage draw held in Cairo on Wednesday.

The first round of group fixtures will start on the weekend of May 12.

The Brazilians will face old foe AS Vita in Group C, as well as Saint George S.C. of Ethiopia and Espérance Sportive de Tunis of Tunisia.

Sundowns were given a lifeline in last year's competition after AS Vita were disqualified for fielding an ineligible player.

Group A consists of Tunisia powerhouse Etoile du Sahel, Sudanese sides Al Hilal, and Al-Merrikh SC and Mozambique's Clube Ferroviario de Maputo.

Five time Champions League winners and 12 time Egypt Premier League winners Zamalek lead Group B. They play Zimbabwe Premier League champions CAPS United, USM Alger of Algeria, and Ahli Tripoli of Libyan.

Egyptian giants Al Ahly who are on their way to claiming yet another Premier League title, play Wydad Athletic Club, Coton Sport and Zanaco in Group D.
