Tottenham link with Fernando Muslera unfounded - Galatasaray

Galatasaray say they have not received a bid from Tottenham for goalkeeper Fernando Muslera after reports in the Turkish press linked Spurs with the Uruguayan.

Muslera, 29, joined Gala from Lazio in 2011 and has been an ever-present in the Turkish league this season.

The future of the Uruguay international, who has 77 caps for his country and faced England at the 2014 World Cup, has been the subject of speculation since Gala were this week suspended from European competition for a year by UEFA, for breaching financial fair play rules.

The ban was followed by the resignation of manager Mustafa Denizli after just three months in charge and there is likely to be further speculation about the future of a number of their key players, with salary cuts expected.

The Instanbul club, however, moved quickly to dampen speculation around Muslera, tweeting: "No offers have been received from Tottenham Hotspur nor have negotiations taken place for our goalkeeper Fernando Muslera."

Spurs are not short of goalkeepers, with Michel Vorm the current deputy to No.1 and club captain Hugo Lloris.
