Jackson Martinez's agent has cooled talk he could join Chelsea in a swap deal involving Diego Costa, saying the Colombia international is hoping to stay at Atletico Madrid.
Martinez, 29, joined Atletico from Porto in the summer but has been linked with a move to Chelsea in exchange for Costa, who has been touted for a return to the Vicente Calderon for some time.
Martinez has scored just two goals in 11 La Liga games for Atletico but is determined to show he can succeed in Diego Simeone's team.
"Jackson wants to be a success at Atletico, and he will be, but it's the club that decides his future," agent Henrique Pompeo told AS.
Asked whether Chelsea are interested, he said: "I can't say it's a lie. This is football and nobody knows what the future holds.
"What I can say is that Jackson isn't a player who leaves a club unless it's through the front door."
Martinez said last month that he would "fight to the end" to show his worth at Atletico and Pompeo added: "He made a decision and he's very happy in Madrid.
"He loves the club, although obviously he would have preferred to have got off to a different start on a personal level, but he's happy for the squad because things are going well.
"Jackson is very grateful to Atletico, to [chief executive Angel Miguel] Gil Marin and [president Enrique] Cerezo, because they made a big economic effort to sign him and with calm and continuity Jackson will pay them back on the pitch.
"He's had to adapt to a new mentality playing style, and a thousand other things, and then he was injured."
Costa, meanwhile, has repeatedly declined to rule out a return to Atletico but earlier this month Cerezo appeared to indicate there would be no move for the Spain international.
However, he has suggested a deal is possible in an interview with RTVE, saying: "Right now, Diego is a Chelsea player and he has to focus on Chelsea, but you never know what will happen in football, and sometimes players do return to their former clubs."
Chelsea have also been linked with Atletico forward Antoine Griezmann but Cerezo added: "Griezmann is really enjoying his football here.
"He's enjoying the fans who love him and admire him, and he's enjoying living in Madrid, all of which comes with being an Atletico de Madrid player"
