The French midfielder's contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires this summer and he would therefore be available on a free transfer.

On Tuesday, he was seen in a bar with Galliani and Filippo Inzaghi, who is widely expected to become Milan's coach next season.

The 27-year-old former Roma midfielder, who featured just 16 times in Ligue 1 last season, is set to sign a three-year contract with the Rossoneri, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The newspaper also reported on a meeting between Galliani, Inzaghi and the agent of PSG defender Alex, Kia Joorabchian, on Tuesday evening, back in Milan. The Brazilian defender is also out of contract in July.

Joorabchian also represents Adel Taarabt, whose loan from Queens Park Rangers has now expired and who could also become a permanent fixture in the Milan squad next season having impressed during the final four months of last season.

Confirmation of either transfer is not expected until the Serie A club have resolved the issue of who will be their coach next season.

A board meeting is due to decide on a severance package for current coach Clarence Seedorf with Inzaghi expected to be promoted from his role of youth-team coach to replace the Dutchman next season.
