Former Southampton forward Dani Osvaldo has joined Portuguese club Porto.

Osvaldo, 29, was a free agent after being released from his contract with the Saints last month.

Porto used their official Twitter page to announced the arrival of a player who had joined Southampton from Roma for a club record £14.6 million in August 2013.

But he was loaned to Juventus the following January after headbutting Saints captain Jose Fonte in training, and also had spells with Serie A club Inter Milan and Boca Juniors, in his native Argentina.

The move to Porto means Osvaldo has now joined the 12th club of his career.

The club had been in the market for striking reinforcements after losing Jackson Martinez to Atletico Madrid, and could offer him the opportunity to play Champions League football.
