Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud said his club have turned down the chance to sign Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

Currently 10th in Ligue 1, Bordeaux had been expected to make a move for an experienced keeper after Cedric Carrasso suffered a cruciate ligament injury in their 2-2 draw with Nantes last weekend.

Manager Willy Sagnol confirmed earlier this week that Paris Saint-Germain's Salvatore Sirigu had rejected an offer to join Bordeaux on loan.

They were then linked with Ochoa, 30, who has yet to play a league game for Malaga since moving to Spain after starring at the 2014 World Cup.

The former America keeper had previously excelled in France over three seasons with AC Ajaccio but Triaud says the idea of signing Ochoa had "not appealed" to Sagnol.

"It was suggested to him but he did not want to follow it up," Triaud told Sud Ouest.

Instead, Bordeaux are to place their faith in Jerome Prior, 20, who had a shaky game in their 5-1 Coupe de la Ligue semifinal defeat at Lille on Tuesday.

Triaud said the club still had "total confidence" in Prior and did not want to sign a keeper "to make up the numbers."

Meanwhile, Bordeaux are set to complete the signing of 20-year-old Defensor Sporting midfielder Mauro Arambarri.

Sud Ouest says the captain of Uruguay's under-20 side will sign a four-and-a-half year contract.
