The Western Sydney Wanderers have signed experienced Spanish central defender Aritz Borda for the next two A-League seasons.
The 31-year-old comes to the Wanderers from newly promoted La Liga side Deportivo Alaves, who topped the Segunda Division last season, and is a direct replacement for departed countryman Alberto Aguilar.
The signing leaves the Wanderers with two visa spots remaining, having retained Dimas Delgado and recruited Uruguayan midfielder Bruno Pinatares last week.
Borda has also played in Thailand, Cyprus and Romania and will become a key figure in Western Sydney's defensive unit, according to club chief executive John Tsatsimas.
"From what our coaching staff have seen of Aritz they are very confident he will be a formidable presence in our backline this season," said Tsatsimas.
