Wolfsburg announce deal for Ajax's Riechedly Bazoer

Wolfsburg have signed Riechedly Bazoer from Ajax on a four-and-a-half year contract.

Bazoer, 20, is rated as one of Europe's top young players and has been linked with Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool, AC Milan and Chelsea, but will head to the Bundesliga in January.

"We have had a close eye on Riechedly Bazoer for quite some time and we are delighted that he has opted to sign for VfL Wolfsburg, in spite of having further offers from other renowned clubs," Wolfsburg sporting director Olaf Rebbe said.

"He is just at the beginning of his career and we are convinced that he will make the next step in his development here with us."

Wolfsburg have taken only 10 points from their opening 14 Bundesliga games, leaving them one place above the relegation zone, but Wolfsburg coach Valerien Ismael hopes Bazoer can help them climb the table.

"I know Riechedly Bazoer well and firmly believe in the quality he possesses," he said. "He suits our team perfectly and can help VfL get back on the right track."

Bazoer, capped six times by Netherlands, has lost his place in the Ajax team under Peter Bosz, leading to him looking for a transfer away from the Eredivisie side.
