MLS suspends Beckerman, Murillo, Angoua one game for violent conduct

Real Salt Lake's Kyle Beckerman was among three players suspended for one game and fined by MLS on Thursday after violent conduct in last weekend's games.

Beckerman tripped up his United States teammate Clint Dempsey with a hard swing of his trailing leg after intercepting a pass in the first minute of RSL's loss to the Seattle Sounders on Saturday.

No foul was called for the tackle and play continued. Beckerman will miss this weekend's match against Philadelphia.

New York Red Bulls defender Michael Murillo and the New England Revolution's Benjamin Angoua were also given one-game bans, while D.C. United's Jose Guillermo Ortiz was fined for embellishment.

Murillo received a yellow card for kicking out at Raheem Edwards on Friday, tripping up the Toronto FC substitute and sending him crashing to the pitch.

Angoua put a knee into the back of Columbus' Ola Kamara in the first half on Sunday but was not initially punished on the play.

Meanwhile, Minnesota United coach Adrian Heath was warned for interfering with a ball in play. Heath was trying to prevent a second ball from entering the pitch when he made contact with the primary ball that LA's Joao Pedro was attempting to put out.
