Uganda's attacking midfielder Farouk Miya will miss the Cranes' upcoming international friendlies to be played in Kampala this month.
Although Miya had been invited by the head coach Sebastien Desabre, the Azerbaijan-based player, together with Edrisa Lubega opted out of the matches as the duo are finalising the documentation of their work permits.
"Miya and Lubega will not be available for duty as they need to finalise with documentation of their work permits where they are playing from," Uganda FA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein told the federation's official website.
"However, the coach will continue monitoring the progress of these players at their respective clubs."
Miya, who netted the lone goal against the Comoros to send Uganda to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations after 39 years of waiting, joined Azerbaijan Premier League side Sabail FK on loan from Standard Liege last month.
The Cranes are expected to host Malawi on March 27th, while their opponents for the first friendly game, scheduled for March 24, has not yet been announced.
However, a close source to the federation told KweséESPN that the Seychelles will be the East Africans' second opponents.
In Miya's absence, Desabre has invited KCCA FC striker Derrick Nsibambi, Taddeo Lwanga (SC Vipers) and Fahad Bayo (Buildcon FC, Zambia) to join the rest of the team in camp on March 19.
Nsibambi scored Uganda's lone goal at the 2018 African Nations Championship, and has clearly done something to impress Desabre.
"These two games will help me assess the senior national team players who I have never seen play since I joined as coach," the coach told KweséESPN earlier this month while announcing the squad.
Uganda began their 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 1-0 victory over Cape Verde, with Tanzania and Lesotho completing the group.
