PSV Eindhoven sign Pachuca, Mexico midfielder Erick Gutierrez

Mexico midfielder Erick Gutierrez is set to join international teammate Hirving Lozano at PSV Eindhoven from Pachuca, the Eredivisie club confirmed on Wednesday.

Gutierrez had regularly been linked with the club, but with PSV booking its place in the Champions League group stage, the terms with Pachuca and the player were finalized.

The Mexico international will sign a five-year deal if he passes the medical, according to PSV.

Left-footed central midfielder Gutierrez, 23, was Pachuca's club captain and has played a total of 144 Liga MX games, winning the 2016 Clausura. The Sinaloa native was part of Mexico's squad at Russia 2018, although he didn't feature in the competition.

The Dutch club announced the signing with a series of tweets, culminating with Lozano talking to Gutierrez on a video call to confirm the agreement.

"I'll always give my best, it's a great club, that's why I chose there and you're going to help me as well!" said Gutierrez in the conversation with Lozano. "I'm happy to be going there and we're going to experience another adventure together."

PSV Eindhoven secured its place in the Champions League group stage with a 3-0 side over Belarusian side BATE, with Lozano netting a goal.

The Mexican duo were both named in interim coach Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti's squad for upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and the United States.
