TOP STORY: Man United turn to Ings instead of Kane
Manchester United are still looking to sign another striker, despite Edinson Cavani penning a new one-year contract, but aren't willing to spend £150 million to bring in Tottenham's Harry Kane.
The Daily Telegraph reports that a cheaper option is to move for former Liverpool striker Danny Ings, who has one year remaining on his contract with Southampton.
Ings, 28, has 13 goals in all competitions this season and bagged 25 in 2019-20. He could be available for around £20m and United will be interested in budget-friendly deal as they have a more pressing desire to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho for around £90m.
Cavani is 34 but United have plenty of options up front with Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial all able to play through the middle. Though none of them are an out-and-out goal scorer like Ings.

22.00 BST: Spartak Moscow have confirmed that Chelsea full-back Victor Moses will join the club on a permanent deal this summer.
The 30-year-old impressed on loan this season with the club, netting four goals and laying on four assists as Spartak finished runners-up. The deal with see Chelsea reportedly net £3.9 million over three installments.
Moses, who won the title with the Blues in 2016-17, has not played for the club since the 2018-19 season, instead spending time on loan with Fenerbahce, Inter Milan and Spartak.
21.09 BST: The Houston Dynamo, Portland Timbers and expansion side Austin FC have all been credited with interest in Monterrey forward Ake Arnaud Loba.
Mexico-based reporter Felipe Galindo claims that the trio of MLS clubs are in for the 23-year-old Ivorian. Loba has scored six goals in 21 appearances since joining Los Rayados in 2020, including one against the Columbus Crew in the CONCACAF Champions League last month.
Loba is an Ivory Coast Under-20 international and previously starred in Peru's top flight with Universidad San Martin.
20.18 BST: Where will Diego Costa land?
Unattached since being released by Atletico Madrid, the 32-year-old striker could be worth a gamble on a free transfer. Costa scored just 12 goals in 61 La Liga games during his second stint with Los Rojiblancos, but was previously prolific with Chelsea and Atletico.
Calciomercato claims that Benfica and Besiktas are two clubs that are considering the sharp-tempered frontman.
19.31 BST: PSG have so far come up short in their quest to win the Champions League, with a lack of quality in midfield often blamed.
New manager Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly identified Liverpool's Georginio Wijnaldum as a potential solution to PSG's biggest problem area, claims L'Equipe. The Ducthman, 30, is out of contract at the end of the season and has also been linked with Barcelona and inter Milan.
Currently PSG have Marco Verratti, Ander Herrera, Leandro Paredes, Idrissa Gueye and Julian Draxler as central midfield options.
18.40 BST: The LA Galaxy have signed midfielder Rayan Raveloson, who recently saw his contract with Ligue 2 champions Troyes expire.
The Madagascar international, 24, started 34 of 38 games as Troyes sealed promotion to Ligue 1, with Ravelson having made 139 career appearances in Ligue 2 betweenTroyes and Tours FC.

"Rayan is a talented, young and versatile midfielder who was a key player in leading his team to a title in France this season," GM Dennis te Kloese said in a club statement. "We think he brings a valuable experience and skillset to our midfield and will be a positive addition to our team. We look forward to him joining the club and his contributions to the LA Galaxy."
Raveloson is the fourth player with French ties that the Galaxy have signed this season, joining Samuel Grandsir ( from AS Monaco), Kevin Cabral (from Valenciennes), and Sega Coulibaly (from AS Nancy).
17.57 BST: Both Fulham and West Ham have shown interest in Blackburn striker Adam Armstrong, the Lancashire Times reports.
The paper understands that both clubs are weighing up potential bids for the 28-goal man, with West Ham keen on adding a striker, and relegated Fulham likely needing a replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic. Blackburn are asking for at least £20 million for the 24-year-old, who previously had some time in the Premier League with Newcastle.
17.08 BST: Man City have swooped up yet another highly-rated, Brazilian-based prospect, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer guru says the club have completed a deal with Fluminense for 18-year-old midfielder Metinho. The youngster, who was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo but raised in Brazil, has made just one senior appearance to date and will join on a five-year contract.

Romano adds that the central midfielder will join City Group club Troyes in France on loan starting next season.
16.21 BST: Dennis Bergkamp has said the consortium led by Spotify Daniel Ek has not given up on their attempted takeover of Arsenal.
Ek approached Bergkamp along with two other club legends -- Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira -- to help formulate a proposal worth around £1.8 billion which was rejected by owners Kroenke Sports Enterprises.
KSE continue to publicly insist they have no interest in selling the club and will not consider any offers despite ongoing hostility from supporters towards their ownership, with another protest planned ahead of Sunday's final Premier League home game against Brighton.
But Bergkamp told Dutch website VI: "We cannot force anyone to sell. I have understood that Daniel, apart from his offer, has reached out twice to Josh Kroenke and his bankers. Whatever the intentions of Kroenke, it would be good to at least have talks together. In the interest of the club. But whatever happens, Daniel is not a quitter and so are we as football guys. We are here to stay.
"The strange thing is that we cannot imagine how the current players must feel, because we have always played for the title. We know how the fans are feeling. We had a meeting with a delegation of fans. We can feel they are getting more enthusiastic as well. That very stimulating."
15.30 BST: Cristiano Ronaldo won the Coppa Italia, but he'll have a decision to make if Juventus miss out on the Champions League this season.
14.54 BST: Barcelona are working on finalising the signing of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, various sources told ESPN's Moises Llorens.
The Spanish giants have offered Aguero a two-year contract and, according to club sources, the Argentinian forward could arrive at Camp Nou after the Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea on May 29.
Aguero, 32, has agreed to considerably reduce his wages and will join as a free agent once his contract with City expires on June 30.
Barca have been looking for a No. 9 since Luis Suarez's departure to Atletico Madrid last summer.
Club president Joan Laporta wanted to acquire Erling Haaland but he knows the signing of the €180m-rated Borussia Dortmund forward is almost impossible due to delicate financial situation Barca are in.
14.40 BST: FC Cincinnati have signed midfielder Jonas Fjeldberg to a one-year contract with three additional option years.
"Jonas has earned a contract with FC Cincinnati after training with the team for various weeks now," FC Cincinnati General Manager Gerard Nijkamp said. "He has adapted well to the professional setting and we are excited to see his potential with the club."
13.31 BST: Arsenal need a replacement for Martin Odegaard when the midfielder moves back to Real Madrid after his loan expires this summer.
Goal reports that Norwich City's Emiliano Buendia is top of their list. The report states: "The Gunners are long-term admirers of the Norwich playmaker and have watched him on countless occasions during his three-year spell at Carrow Road."
Real Betis' Nabil Fekir is also reportedly on the club's shortlist.
12.51 BST: Tottenham captain Harry Kane has fuelled speculation that he could leave the club this summer and reiterated his stance that he doesn't plan to stay at the club for the rest of his career.
On Monday, sources told ESPN that Kane had informed Spurs of his desire to depart after another trophyless season with Premier League clubs Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea all interested in the striker.
Speaking with former United captain Gary Neville on The Overlap earlier this month, Kane said his ambition is to become one of the best players in world football.
"I don't want to come to the end of my career and have any regrets," he said. "I want to be the best I can be. I never said I'd stay at Spurs for the rest of my career and I've never said I'd leave Spurs. People might say: 'He's desperate for trophies, he needs trophies,' but I still feel like I've still got almost another career to play. I've got seven, eight years, kind of what I've already had in the Premier League. So I'm not rushing anything, I'm not desperate to do anything.
"I'm not afraid to say I want to be the best. I want to try and get on the level [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi got to. That's my ultimate goal -- to be winning trophies season in, season out, scoring 50, 60, 70 goals season in, season out."
12.27 BST: Manchester City's priority in the summer is to sign a striker, and Tottenham's Harry Kane is one of the players at the top of their wish list, sources have told ESPN's Rob Dawson.
Sergio Aguero will leave when his contract expires at the end of the season and Gabriel Jesus has struggled for form and fitness, so of all the Premier League clubs interested, City's need is the greatest. There is also a view that Kane would not need much convincing to move to the Etihad Stadium given that his ambition is to win trophies and, under Pep Guardiola, City are the dominant side in English football.
After scoring more than 200 goals in all competitions, there's little doubt that Kane has the quality to improve Guardiola's team. The issue, though, is the transfer fee. City have shown in the past they will not be held to pay over the odds even for players they desperately want to sign. In an era of skyrocketing transfer fees, City have yet to pay more than £70m for a single player and Kane is valued at £150m with three years left on his contract.
12.00 BST: Ellen White has signed a two-year contract extension at Manchester City.
White, 32, has scored 24 goals in 55 appearances in all competitions so far, including 15 during the 2020-21 campaign.
"I'm delighted to have everything sorted," she told the club website. "I've really enjoyed the last two seasons and I'm excited for what the future holds for this team and to be a part of it.
"We've got some really talented players here and I've really enjoyed working with [manager] Gareth [Taylor], so I can't wait to continue that journey for the next couple of years - it was a really easy decision for me.
"I still want to develop too as a player -- I'm 32, but I still want to learn and get better. I'm surrounded by a great group of players who constantly push each other to improve in a competitive environment. We've already won the FA Cup, but we don't want to sit back - I really want to help the team to achieve some big things in the coming years and that's a big part of the reason that I've committed my future to this Club."
11.24 BST: Manchester City certainly don't regret spending €68m to sign Ruben Dias from Benfica last summer.
10.29 BST: Le10 Sport claims that Chelsea and PSG are both interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic on loan.
Pjanic, 31, signed in a swap deal with Juventus for €72m-rated Arthur in 2020. His contract was valued at €60m, so Barcelona ended up with a €12m profit from the move.
The Bosnia & Herzegovina international has grown tired of life on the bench at Camp Nou, but has three years left on his deal.
09.18 BST: Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare is set to sign for Leicester for €25m.

08.52 BST: Sergio Aguero will join Barcelona as a free agent after the Champions League final, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Argentina international will leave Manchester City when his contract expires at the end of the season and the Champions League final against Chelsea on May 29 will be his last game for the club.
Aguero, 32, will travel after the final to Barcelona to undergo a medical before putting pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Catalan giants before joining Argentina's squad for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Negotiations are very advanced between Aguero and Barca and the deal is almost complete, says Mundo Deportivo. If completed, Aguero will play at Barca until June 2023, the same contract duration that compatriot and friend Lionel Messi could sign if he stays with the Catalan giants.
08.30 BST: Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has denied speculation that his club are open to offer Joao Felix to Barcelona in a swap deal that would see Antoine Griezmann return to the Rojiblancos.
Cerezo admitted earlier this week that he would love to have Griezmann back at Atletico but said it was unlikely that Barca would let the Frenchman go.
"A swap deal regarding Griezmann and Joao Felix? It's a topic nipped in the bud," he siad. "A totally made-up story by the media. Joao Felix will be one of the best players that has stepped onto the pitch. Griezmann wants to play at Barca and Joao at Atletico."
Atletico signed Felix in a €126m transfer from Benfica in the summer of 2019 but the 21-year-old has yet to show his true potential. The Portugal international was signed to replace Griezmann, who joined Barcelona for a €120m fee.

- Manchester City are prepared to offer a staggering £300,000-a-week wages to bring Tottenham striker Harry Kane to the Etihad stadium in the summer. A report in the Daily Mail claims both Manchester clubs have reported interest in Kane, but it's City who have taken the lead in the race. The 27-year-old is having one of his best seasons in a Spurs shirt, scoring 22 goals and assisting 13 across 34 Premier League starts.
- Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is continuing to attract interest from around Europe with the 18-year-old prospect now linked with a move to the Premier League. Real Madrid have had the central midfielder on their radar for some time, but The Mirror reports that the Spanish club's financial difficulties may now force them to prioritise their transfer spending on other areas. And that's the same for the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, who may not be prepared to shell out €60m on the Frenchman. That leaves the door open for Arsenal and Manchester United, with reports claiming that both clubs are keen to add the French prospect to their ranks.
- Internazionale are trying to resolve the contract of Croatia international Marcelo Brozovic, with the midfielder attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain and clubs in the Premier League. That's according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 28-year-old could be interested in a move away from the San Siro. Brozovic played a big part in Inter's Serie A title win this season, appearing 33 times in the league.
- Gazzetta dello Sport believes AC Milan are the latest club interested in adding Olivier Giroud to their ranks, with the French forward's contract set to expire in the summer. The 34-year-old Chelsea target man has been linked with a host of clubs of late after strong form in the Champions League, scoring six from eight appearances in the run-up to the final.
- Steve Bruce wants to sign Arsenal's Joe Willock to a permanent deal, the Newcastle United manager has revealed during his post-match interview with Sky Sports after a 1-0 victory against Sheffield United. The 21-year-old has scored 10 goals and assisted three this season on loan from the Gunners, and is currently in the best spell of form in his career, having scored in six games straight.
- Turkish media outlet Ajansspor believe Michy Batshuayi would be allowed to join Trabzonspor in the summer, with the Belgian striker on the Turkish Super Lig club's shortlist. The 27-year-old is set to return to Chelsea after a loan spell with Crystal Palace that has seen him score just twice in 18 appearances.
