Ex-USWNT keeper Hope Solo to lead team in million-dollar TST

Former United States goalkeeper Hope Solo announced on Monday that she will be leading Solo FC into play at The Soccer Tournament from June 4-9 in Cary, North Carolina.

The annual $1 million winner-take-all TST will be the first time Solo has played in any kind of competition since 2016.

"I am incredibly excited not only to enter Solo FC in The Soccer Tournament, but also make my comeback to the field at one of the most exciting events in soccer right now," Solo said in a statement. "TST has done some amazing things to grow the game for women and I'm proud to be a part of it. I'm as competitive as ever, and I can't wait to unveil the team that will win the $1 million grand prize."

Solo, who debuted for the national team at 18, earned over 200 caps for the U.S. and played in three World Cups and three Olympics, winning the Golden Glove at the 2011 and 2015 World Cup. She was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2022.

Solo made her national team debut at 18 years old, establishing herself as the first choice goalkeeper a few years later. Earning over 200 caps, Solo played in three World Cups and three Olympics. Solo was the Golden Glove winner at both the 2011 and 2015 World Cups and was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2022.

"We are excited to welcome one of the greatest women's soccer players of all time to Cary," said TST Founder and CEO Jon Mugar. "Watching Hope take the field again will get fans on their feet and add another layer of excitement to TST."

Another team of ex-USWNT players -- including Heather O'Reilly, Ali Krieger and Carli Lloyd -- will play for the US Women team at TST.
