Zakaria Bakkali has surgery, likely out of Belgium's Euro 2016 plans

Valencia's Zakaria Bakkali will miss the rest of the season after having surgery to fix a pelvic issue on Monday, likely ruling him out for selection ahead of Belgium's Euro 2016 campaign.

The 20-year-old winger could miss up to four months, which would make it difficult for Belgium coach Marc Wilmots to consider him for a trip to France in the summer.

In a statement on Monday, the La Liga club confirmed Bakkali's surgery, saying it went "normally."

"The player, accompanied in Belgium by the chief of the medical staff, Dr. Albors, was operated on on Monday," a Valencia statement confirmed.

"After the procedure, which was completed normally, the player will begin a period of recovery estimated to be three to four months."

A Belgium youth international at all levels, Bakkali has made just two senior appearances for his country since debuting in October of 2013.
