No coach or program had a more drama-filled season than Sean Miller and the Arizona Wildcats. It began with three losses at the Battle 4 Atlantis in November, which had many questioning the Wildcats as a true top-five team. Then came the suspension of second-leading scorer Allonzo Trier for a second positive PED test in February. Days later, ESPN reported that Miller was heard on an FBI wiretap discussing a $100,000 payment during the recruitment of freshman Deandre Ayton.
But Arizona recovered to win 16 of 17 after the rough trip to the Bahamas, Trier's suspension was lifted by the NCAA after two games. Miller returned to the bench after sitting out one game and adamantly professing his innocence, promptly leading the embattled Wildcats to a Pac-12 tourney title.
