Iowa has extended coach Fran McCaffery's contract through the 2019-20 season, the school said in a release Friday.
The financial details of the extension were unavailable Friday night, team spokesman Matt Weitzel said.
In March, McCaffery, who will make a base salary of $1.8 million this season, led the Hawkeyes to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2006.
"Fran's passion, commitment, and abilities, continue to move the Hawkeyes in the right direction," athletic director Gary Barta said in the school's release. "I'm excited about this season and beyond."
