Royals 1B Lucas Duda placed on DL with plantar fasciitis

Kansas City Royals first baseman Lucas Duda was placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday with right foot plantar fasciitis.

The left-handed slugger was hitting .256 with four home runs and 19 RBIs in 133 at-bats in his first season with Kansas City.

IF-OF Hunter Dozier was recalled from Triple-A Omaha to take Duda's place on the roster.

Dozier made his first big-league start at first base Monday night, in the Royals 2-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Dozier, a 2013 first-round pick, was hitting .254 in 35 games with the Storm Chasers.
