UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier has received good news regarding the hip injury that forced him to pull out of an upcoming bout against Nate Diaz at UFC 230 on Nov. 3.
Poirier, 29, announced via social media on Thursday he will not require surgery and should resume training next month.

I do not have to have surgery!! I'm going to stay in LA and get stem cell injections in my hip on Monday. From that point I will have a 3 week recovery. After that I will be able to go back to training 100%.
Poirier (24-5) was scheduled to face Diaz in the co-main event of UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden. Diaz had threatened to withdraw from the card, however, due to issues with the promotion. Both fighters campaigned at one point to turn their bout into a 165-pound title fight, but the UFC is opposed to creating that weight class at this time.
Diaz (19-11) was pulled from UFC 230 entirely following Poirier's injury.
Poirier, of Louisiana, is on a four-fight win streak, including victories against Eddie Alvarez, Justin Gaethje and Anthony Pettis.
