Los Angeles Lakers guard Wayne Ellington will miss the remainder of the season with a right shoulder separation, the team announced Thursday.
Ellington suffered the injury in the Lakers' 113-92 loss Wednesday to the New Orleans Pelicans, and an MRI on Thursday confirmed a Grade 1 separation in that shoulder.
Ellington played 65 games for the Lakers this season, starting 36 of them. The six-year veteran averaged 10 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 25.8 minutes per game.
He is the fifth Laker to be lost for the season due to injury. The others were Julius Randle (leg), Steve Nash (back), Xavier Henry (Achilles) and Kobe Bryant (shoulder).
Ellington, 27, will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
