Free-agent big man Larry Sanders has a workout scheduled with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, league sources told ESPN.

Sources said the workout involves no other players and consists of testing and evaluating Sanders physically. One team source described the workout to ESPN's Dave McMenamin as "due diligence."

Sanders arrived in Cleveland late Tuesday night. He posted photos of his arrival on Snapchat.

Cleveland is in search of a rim protector and a backup point guard. During his five-year tenure with the Milwaukee Bucks, Sanders was one of the most prolific shot-blockers in the league. He has averaged 1.8 blocks per game in his career and was second in the league in blocks per game in 2012-13.

Cavaliers assistant coaches Larry Drew and Jim Boylan both spent time coaching Sanders in Milwaukee, prompting Cleveland to explore Sanders as a potential replacement for Chris "Birdman" Andersen, who was brought in during the offseason as a backup big man and rim protector but suffered a season-ending knee injury in December before being traded to the Charlotte Hornets and waived.

Sanders, 28, hasn't played in a game since the 2014-15 season. On multiple occasions, Sanders violated the NBA's drug policy with positive marijuana tests. He walked away from the game and later checked himself into a hospital for anxiety and depression.

His comeback attempt was revealed during the offseason.
