Sources: Clippers trade DeAndre Liggins to Hawks for trade exception

The Los Angeles Clippers traded guard DeAndre Liggins and cash to the Atlanta Hawks, league sources told ESPN.

The Clippers created a $1.67 million trade exception with the move. They'll have one year to use the exception.

The Hawks are sending the Clippers the draft rights of an immediately undetermined player, league sources said. The Hawks will waive Liggins, who will be owed $26,000 on his 2017-18 contract, league sources said.

The Clippers acquired Liggins, 29, as part of the blockbuster Chris Paul deal with the Houston Rockets in June. The move leaves the Clippers with 19 players on roster for the start of training camp in Hawaii this week.

It also drops the Clippers $122,000 below the luxury tax level.

Liggins has had NBA stops with Orlando, Oklahoma City, Miami, Cleveland and Dallas.
