Teams across the league debuted their new Nike "Statement" jerseys Friday, which led to players debuting sneakers in fresh colorways.
Karl-Anthony Towns donned a duo of size 20 exclusives, one a vivid volt green matching the Timberwolves' newest hue, the other a subtle home edition featuring uniform-inspired striped accents along the midsole.
Boston and Cleveland debuted black jerseys at home, with Nike's top signature athletes Kyrie Irving and LeBron James breaking out special kicks for the occasion. James started the Cavs' close win over Charlotte in an all-yellow pair of last year's LeBron 14, before switching to a black-and-gum version of the new LeBron 15. Irving wore a muted black-and-neon version of his Kyrie 3 with the Celtics' "Statement" uniform.
Stars around the league -- including Paul George, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant -- continued wearing the newest colorways of their signature models, with more new editions expected throughout December. Bulls rookie forward Lauri Markkanen turned heads in Oakland with a sharp pair of black-and-red LeBron 11s, while Lance Stephenson wore perhaps the rarest shoe of the week, an "Atmos" collaboration edition of the retro Air Jordan 3.
In Los Angeles, Clippers center Willie Reed took matters into his own hands, customizing a pair of all-white Hyperdunk 2017 Lows with a series of motivational phrases like "You won't make it" and "Not good shooting." He summed up the pair with his own phrase facing up: "My path never was simple."
