DeAndre Ayton flashes range, nails 3 in scrimmage

Face the facts: The odds of Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton hitting a 3-pointer in game action aren't good.

That's probably why a Suns fan felt comfortable declaring on Twitter that he'd get a "DOMINAYTON" tattoo on his face if Ayton, a second-year center, knocked down a 3 during the team's stay at the NBA's Walt Disney World campus.

Well, the team's official Twitter account is holding the fan accountable after Ayton swished a corner 3 with 7:08 left in the third quarter of the Suns' 101-88 scrimmage victory Thursday over the Utah Jazz.

Ayton, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft who turned 22 on Thursday, confidently drilled the jump shot over two-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert after receiving an inbounds pass from rookie Ty Jerome.

The Suns kept receipts:

Ayton finished the game with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and a game-high eight rebounds in 21 minutes to go with his newfound range. The scrimmages in Florida don't count for official statistics, so Ayton remains 0-for-7 from 3-point range in his career.

Perhaps that changes when the seeding games begin for Phoenix on July 31 against the Washington Wizards.
