Wide Receiver
Taylor
Baltimore has been unable to fill this need through the draft or free agency despite trying to add an impact receiver for some time now, and this offseason has been no exception thus far. The Ravens tried to trade for Terrell Owens but the trade was rescinded and Owens is now in Philadelphia. Making matters worse is the fact that Marcus Robinson, who was a factor in 2003, has signed with Minnesota. Travis Taylor has been a disappointment, as he continues to drop too many passes that he should catch.
Ron Johnson, who has been inconsistent at best, missed 10 games with a knee injury last year and Frank Sanders isn't going to provide a lot of big plays. Baltimore's opponents frequently run eight-man fronts in an effort to stop Jamal Lewis. This creates single-coverage opportunities for the wide receivers on the perimeter. The Ravens need a receiver who can take advantage and stretch opposing defenses, which should eventually help open up the running game for Lewis.
