Ed Werder reports that the investigation into the allegation of domestic violence against Ezekiel Elliott is soon to be coming to a close. (1:15)

Prosecutors in Columbus, Ohio consider their investigation into an allegation of domestic violence against Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott to be nearly complete.

Prosecutors are awaiting a packet of information to arrive from Elliott's side that has been promised by the player's representatives. Regardless, a source tells ESPN's Ed Werder that as is standard operating procedure, the investigators will request that Elliott come to them for an in-person interview to present his version of the facts. That is not likely to happen for at least a few weeks.

A woman, who says she was Elliott's live-in girlfriend at the time, accused the former Ohio State star of assaulting her multiple times in Columbus several weeks ago.

Elliott has denied the allegations.

Elliott, the fourth overall pick, is currently in training camp with the Cowboys in Oxnard, Calif. He left the field with a sore hamstring and is scheduled to be re-evaluated Wednesday morning when the team returns to the field.
